Childcare at
Wilderness Reserve

This Christmas, we are pleased to offer a range of wonderful 'Winter Workshops' for guests that are staying at the stunning Wilderness Reserve, Suffolk between the 21st of December to 2nd January 2025.

We are pleased to offer the following workshops, overseen by qualified primary school teachers, which can be booked directly with Wilderness Reserve on: 01986 802 113

It’s beginning to taste a lot like Christmas!

Before beginning the baking masterclass, children will first receive their very own chef’s hat to decorate and wear throughout the session. Children will have the opportunity to make their own gingerbread biscuits in a variety of different Christmas shapes, and whilst they cool, can design their own gingerbread house cookie box to take them home in. To finish the session, participants will select their favourite coloured icing, sweets and dried fruits to decorate their biscuits, before taking them home and sampling them with their friends and families.

We Wish you a Merry Christmas Workshop

Wreath-making is the aim of this workshop with children first searching the grounds for materials that they may need. After foraging for their supplies, the wreath making can commence with participants selecting either a traditional ring-shaped or star wreath to complete. Wreath-making is thirsty work however, and so children will then have the chance to make their very own Christmas punch to sample and take home with them in specially decorated bottles… just in time for Christmas!

Twas the night before Christmas Workshop

Children will each be given their own full-sized stitch-and-sew linen stocking to decorate and make their own at this workshop. Once their masterpieces have been finished, children can take part in a very special Wilderness Christmas treasure hunt, before returning back to Santa’s grotto to design and decorate their own ceramic bauble and gift box.

Elf Shenanigans Workshop

The elves have been causing mischief in the workshop and need a hand to finish their toy-making and wrapping duties! During this workshop, children can choose and decorate their own wooden toy, design and print wrapping paper and gift bags, make Christmas Eve reindeer food, and end the session by making a Christmas lantern for our very own Christmas parade back to Sibton House.

Enchanted Forest Workshop

Our candle-making workshop allows children to use a wide variety of coloured, natural beeswax to hand-roll and form their own candles to take home with them. We then continue this creativity by getting our hands a little dirty, and will design and make 'Green Man' faces on tree trunks using clay and other natural resources that have been foraged from the woods.

'Let's make the New Year magical' Workshop

A selection of dried flowers, oils and natural colourings are on offer to participants wishing to design and concoct a range of different bath bombs. Children will decorate their own packaging to turn their creations into perfect gifts, before each making their own beautiful 'New Years' snowglobe.

Winter Wonderland Workshop

Children will each build and decorate their very own wooden birdhouse using simple hand tools, before making their own bird feed recipe to turn into winter bird feeders. We finish with a 'wild' treasure hunt across the Sibton Estate!
